Nestled just off the bustling Bourbon Street, Copper Monkey Bar & Grill offers a refreshing retreat for those seeking authentic New Orleans flavors in a warm, inviting atmosphere. This cozy bar & grill captures the essence of the city's vibrant culinary scene, serving up classic Cajun and Creole dishes alongside inventive bar favorites that satisfy every craving.
The menu is a delightful journey through Louisiana's rich food traditions, starting with staples like their renowned Gumbo with Rice and Bread—a soulful bowl brimming with deep, smoky flavors and tender morsels. The Jambalaya Bowl echoes the same dedication to hearty, bold tastes, offering a perfect blend of rice, spice, chicken, and sausage in a house-made red sauce that’s nothing short of a “real Monkey special.” For those looking to take a bite out of something more unconventional, the Peanut Butter Burger is a decadent twist on a half-pound sirloin patty dressed with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles, delivering a bold, savory-sweet flavor combination that intrigues and delights the palate.
Beyond hearty mains, Copper Monkey also tempts with lighter and shareable fare like Crab Cake Bites, the addictive Monkey Buns, and classic New Orleans Beignets that offer that perfect pillowy sweetness to conclude your meal. Their selection of cocktails is equally impressive—the iconic Hurricane crowns the drink list with a spirited symphony of fruity and tangy notes, while the well-curated absinthe options bring a touch of New Orleans mystique to your evening.
Atmospherically, Copper Monkey Bar & Grill captures the lively spirit of the French Quarter without the overwhelming chaos. As one guest, Ted McMahan, shared, it’s “just off of Bourbon Street and out of the craziness,” offering a fantastic balance between energy and comfort. The space may be intimate, but that intimacy breeds warmth and excellent service—something many patrons, like David Coleman and Corda Bowen, fondly highlight. The staff, including standout bartenders like V, make you feel instantly welcome with friendly, attentive care that enhances every visit.
For those who appreciate specialty wraps, the “BLT” Wrap boasts generous bacon, crisp lettuce, and juicy tomatoes dressed in ranch, wrapped snugly in a soft tortilla, offering a satisfying handheld meal that is both hearty and flavorful. Seafood lovers can’t miss the Shrimp PO-Boy, a classic New Orleans sandwich piled with perfectly fried, succulent shrimp. The menu also features comforting sides such as golden Tater Tots and crispy wings that Kate Blossom describes as "well seasoned and cooked to perfection," rounding out a spread that covers savory, spicy, sweet, and everything in between.
Copper Monkey Bar & Grill is more than just a place to eat; it’s a genuine slice of New Orleans culture, delivering fantastic food, flavorful drinks, and a friendly vibe that lingers long after the last bite. Whether you’re seeking a memorable gumbo, a creative burger, or simply a lively spot to unwind with expertly crafted cocktails, this local gem promises an authentic experience infused with the city’s unmistakable charm.
Great atmosphere, food, and great drinks. Just off of Bourbon Street and out of the craziness. Try the gumbo and a hurricane.
This is a good ole time local bar/restaurant. It is small number of tables but were able to get right in. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They made the experience along with the great food. Gumbo was the best had by one member of our foursome, burger was tasty and the wings were excellent. If in the French Quarter don't miss this unique little establishment.
Fantastic prices & Amazing experience!! Drinks were absolutely fabulous and the bartender V was an absolute doll. I wish everyone I encountered in life was as friendly. I will say I wasn’t a big fan of the mushrooms but the environment, good conversation and amazing drinks made up for it.
This restaurant may be small, but it has a lively and energetic atmosphere. We had a great time enjoying our drinks and dinner. The service was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations in both taste and quality. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was outstanding, though the portion size felt a bit small for the price. The Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap was delicious—reminiscent of a gyro wrap—with a flavor that truly stood out. Overall, it's a great spot to hang out, relax, and enjoy good food and drinks. Highly recommended for a casual evening out.
Not what we expected but very pleasantly surprised. It’s a small bar with good food. The BLT wrap has a ton of bacon and a nice dressing that keeps it from being dry. Sweet potato fries were delicious and creamy on the inside. The burger is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tator tops are great! Really nice staff.
Low key. No frills. Dive bar. EXCELLENT!!!! Jacques was a fantastic 1st bartender for our trip. We're here on. Monday nite so it's REALLY chill. Crawfish balls are delightful. We recommend.
Cute little bar with amazing food. It's much better than what you expect at a bar. My husband had the cheesburger that is made fresh to order. Very delicious and tender. I had the shrimp creole. So delicious with just the right amount of spice. I would come back just for this. The service is on top of it. The bartender, Vi is so friendly and engaging and the rest of the staff is very attentive as well. Prices quite reasonable. Do yourself a favor and get off Bourbon for this treat.
Great dive bar with great food. The server/bar tender was amazing and made sure we were good through out our time there!
